Clusters
Excerpt from the original CRV manual by Paul H. Smith:
Stage II responses often appear in groups or “clusters” of words – usually 3-4 words, sometimes more – and relate to different aspects or shapes of the target area. For example, if a water area and a land area are in the target area, then one group of Stage II sensory words that relate to the land could be delivered, then another group related to the water.
This is partly noticeable for target areas whose ideograms produce two or more “A” and “B” components. Stage IIs will tend to cluster with respect to their “A” and “B” components. Stage II reactions also bundle in another way. Often certain types of sensory impressions are perceived together. For example, two or three tastes, smells, colors or surface textures can appear together while the viewer objectifies his perceptions on the paper.
